The art of flowers is not just about arranging flowers in bouquets by colour. True flower art is about a sense of style, the ability to hear what flowers say. It also requires great prudence and love for nature and, of course, an understanding of human psychology. After all, a bouquet is a gift from one person to another, a form of communication, a great complement to any words.

At Flower Power, we are convinced that there is no person in the world who does not love flowers. And if you adore them as much as we do, you've probably at least once wondered how to make a bouquet. Therefore, our florists with 15 years of experience in floristry in Europe want to share how they create spectacular bouquets step by step: from choosing flowers to stylish design. Use our tips or alternatively, simply order a bouquet from Flower Power, where we will take care of everything - from flower selection to delivery to your door.

What mood will your bouquet reflect?

To begin with, we advise you to decide what mood your bouquet should reflect: romantic, festive, minimalist or rustic. And also, what message you want to transmit with this bouquet. In other words, what do you want to say to the person you are going to give it to? This will help you understand which flowers and colours are best combined with each other. You can create a simple arrangement or play on the contrast. You can make a mono bouquet, that is one consisting of one type of flower, or you can include different kinds of flowers. It all depends on your wishes.

Let’s choose flowers

If you have decided to create a bouquet of different types of flowers, we recommend that you combine main and complementary flowers. This will make the arrangement look professional and balanced. The main flowers are the centre of attention, which sets the tone, main colour and mood of the composition. These can be roses, hydrangeas, peonies, orchids. Complementary flowers add volume, depth and structure to your bouquet. Take gypsophila and it will make the bouquet lighter, and eucalyptus will add fresh greenery and naturalness. Don't be afraid to create and experiment.

And what about color?

Now let's talk about colour, it is also an important aspect of bouquet design. We recommend you to use no more than three main colours in the bouquet. In this case, one will be the leading colour, and the other two will be accents or neutral complements. According to the colour theory, there are warm and cool shades that are perfectly combined within their group. Warm shades are red, orange, yellow, they create an energetic, cheerful mood. Cool shades are blue, purple, blue, they convey calmness and confidence.

How to wrap flowers?

The next step is to wrap flowers. We use different methods of wrapping a bouquet. It can be minimalist craft paper, which adds naturalness and cosiness. For spring and romantic bouquets, we recommend using a floral mesh, it will create lightness and elegance. Another option we recommend is burlap, which is gaining popularity nowadays. It is perfect for bouquets in yellow, green, and pastel shades.  If in doubt, choose neutral packaging colours - beige, white, pastel. They will not mess up the composition and always look stylish.

Make the gift more special

To make the arrangement look complete and holistic, let's add decorative elements. You can tie the bouquet with satin ribbons that match the tone of flowers or jute cord. If you choose ribbons, you'll add a festive mood, and jute cord will perfectly complement kraft paper or burlap. If you are making a bouquet for a person you love, you can add a mini-card with a wish. Write what you have been meaning to say for a long time, or simply sign that it is from you. This will make the gift even more personalised.
